Advertisers know the demographics of the customers they want and they tailor their commercials, magazine ads, web ads, ect to that specific audience. For example, on the cartoon channels you’ll see ads for toys, fruit drinks and video games. On news channels you'll see commercials about business travel, investing and college, generally speaking of course. By targeting specific age groups the companies can maximize their advertising budgets to get their message to a big pool of the customers they want.
