I want to place a classified ad on ebay, but when I go to sell an item is asking me for a starting bid price, what section do I need to go, links would be helpfull thanks.

Answer:
Hi,

There is no bidding on a Classified Ad, so you should put the advertised price of your item, service or property as the price that you would like to receive for it, and not the starting price as you would in an auction-style listing.

1. Find the categories that allow classified ads

2. Find the hidden tab that turns them on

eBay isn’t making it easy, but here are step by step instructions.

To see what selling categories accept classifed ads:

STEP 1:

From the eBay.com homepage:

* Click on “advanced search” leaving all fields blank

* Click on “search” leaving all fields blank

* Under the “format” drop down box choose “classified ads” and click “show” out to the right of the drop down boxes.

The categories that don’t have zeros are elligible for classified ads. No other categories will accept them.

STEP 2:

To set up an ad in one of those categories that allows classified ads:

* Click on sell and describe your item

* Proceded to the page where you select your category

* Select a category that allows classified ads (from above)

* Once you proceed to the page titled “Sell: Create Your Listing” scroll down to the section titled “How you’re selling”. At the top of that section you should see four tabs. One of them is “classified ad” ASSUMING YOU’VE CHOSEN A CATEGORY THAT ALLOWS CLASSIFIED ADS FROM STEP ONE ABOVE.

Hope this helps,

Robby
