You've picked a competitive field in tough economic times, some people tie ebay advertisements to their store site, capitalizing on the ready made audience at ebay. I'm glad to see the pics expand to a decent size. Does your paypal processing accept credit cards too? I’ve seen pay buttons that include credit card images for customers without paypal accounts.

“Free” search engine traffic is the way you have to go, it can be a long haul to develop a ranking, some experts advocate spending 2/3 of your effort off site promoting and adding backlinks to your site wherever possible, you can enter the address of a competitor site that’s ranking higher than yours, into the site explorer to learn how many inbound links they’ve.

Googling 'handcrafted earrings' turns up 133,000 pages of results. it would take a large effort to come up anywhere near the first page. The marketing gurus always speak about niche markets, very specialized products rank mor easily, sort of the large fish in a tiny pond. Think up some one of a king concepts using stained glass from a cathedral or a Tiffany lamp or recycled cell phone parts, there's probably not much money in ice cube or human hair earrings (below)

Searching the internet for the terms backlinks and doFollow list should turn up some tutorials, there's an over used monthly list of backlink sources available from Angela Edwards for about $6 a month with exact step by step instructions on how to insert your link.

You can create free blogs at blogger, wordpress, etc. that speak hand crafted earrings and link back to the store, get the blogs listed in jewelry blog directories, participate in hand crafted jewelry forums, some grant a signature in each post linking to the store.

One thought, you might use a longer more descriptive title for your site, sometimes you have to write for the search engines as well as your visitors.

I would recommend www.WebPricedRight.com

They have a product called Search Engine Visibility that works great! They have 24/7 free support and some of the ideal prices I’ve found. They also have great hosting deals and I’ve never had an issue with down time.

I have used over half a dozen companies over the last 9 years. I’m a Graphic Designer and I service over 20 clients. Most of the service providers that I used promised the world but just raised their prices the next year. For the last 3 years I have been working with Web Priced Right. I wasn't sure at first because their prices were relatively low compared to other options out there. It was the ideal decision I've ever made!

I am currently hosting over 40 websites with them and never once have had a second of down time. They have never raised their prices on me and the tech support is unreal. They’ve some of the most experienced and knowledgeable technical staff that I have ever worked with.

theres a website called Wetpaint.com
you can advertise your stuff on there and tell family and friends about it… you have to pay for upgrades but that's just one recommendation……..
Yola.com works best you dont have to pay for anything unless of course you want a premium background then you would have to pay a fee to get it but i have a Yola and i dont even go to the premi background the normal ones are nice and you can invite family friends and business workers alike to browse your website on Yola. Yola also comes with a shopping chart decal ( as far as i know thats free) so good luck and i hoped i helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might want to begin a blog. A blog is a great way for people to get to know you. People buy from people they know trust and like. You can write articles and link them to posts in your blog. There are lots of article directories. Not all article directories will let you link to your website or blog posts so make sure they allow it. However, many let you have a resource page where you explain your expertise and a tiny bit of information about yourself, and they let you put a link to your website in there.

Have you looked into forums? Some forums let you put a link to your website in your signature. Since you’re selling earrings I think you should try some women forums.

Ask your family and friends to help spread the word about your new website. Get some business cards and pass them out. Give a couple of them to your family and friends and let them pass them out too.

There are also free traffic programs that you can use on the internet.

I hope you find these tips helpful. Wishing you much success!
