…..That using the computer/till at work has given me RSI (Repetative Strain Injury) which is leaving me with numb fingers and a aching arm?

I went to the doctors last week and they said i should tell my bosses i need to have the computer moved (even though it can't be from where it is). I know i should tell them but im scared too. I don't see my boss during the week so have to write a letter to them for when they come into work next.

What should i put? How should i write it? Should i just leave it.

Answer:
Not sure what country you live in, but if you live in the US, then by law employers need to make reasonable accommodations for any medical issues that you raise, including this one. Just be sure you can produce a doctor's note documenting the condition. That is usually enough for the employer to take action (to avoid any lawsuits).

My employer does workstation evaluations and will adjust the keyboard location, provide wrist pads, etc. to help with such conditions.

I always think that it's best to discuss issues with your boss in person. However, if you can't, I'd keep the note brief and to the point. State that you have a medical condition (doctor's note enclosed), and that you respectfully request that they make reasonable accommodations for your condition, including changing the location of the computer. Give them sufficient time to respond, and hopefully you'll get a positive reply.

Good luck!

Answer:
ASK them. If they then ask why, explain what your doctor told you. If they then refuse, see a lawyer.

Answer:
Could your doctor write a letter explaining your condition? That way you have the request and the reason right from the source, and they shouldn't question it at all. Why are you afraid to tell your boss? Is he/she a monster or unreasonable (I know some are, so I'm not being snotty with you)?
