The only way u can either get a raise or a promotion in some jobs, is if your a favorite of your boss or if he/she likes u very much. It's interesting b/c my father taught me that hard work and loyalty is what gets u ahead, but in nowadays, I guess your work ethic makes no difference to certain bosses. Don't u think that's horrific?

This is an absolute fact what you’ve just said - It seems to only happen to the nice people too who do their very ideal - What I state to people is, don't stay where you cannot advance or where you’re unhappy, otherwise you will be unhappy for the rest of your life, and don't anticipate it to be greener on the other side either, because if you already have the kind of thing about you that attracts abuse of any kind, then you’ll likely come across abuse in the next company too. The first thing bosses (and co-workers) do when you begin a job, is they size you up and if they see you’re too nice or too gentle or show any “weakness”, as they see it, (which to me are actually good virtues), you can anticipate a difficult time there for your whole stay. In cases like this, I always advise people to begin making plans to start up their own business no matter how long it takes them to save to get there and to get it running properly (it does require determination and persistence), it is well worth it in the end to be totally self adequate and to be your own boss, rather than being treated as the runt of the litter in every company who hires you. I once took one of these companies to court for mental abuse and I won. You see I was one of those nice people who gives 200% always, but I have worked hard daily to condition myself to be tougher. I now freelance and no one is breathing down my neck.

The company that I worked for for 25 years. went by evaluations, our performance came by job performance ,days present safety, and ours bosses had no say so and couldn’t show favoritism, since the age of computers as this information was put in and computerized daily. The people doing the assessment never meet the employee, even when there was a problem between employees.or management. and how it was settled was done by corporate. It was the fairest way ,and the good employees were rewarded and the lazy trouble makers would be weeded out. and the boss had no control. But you could if you thought you were being treated unfair, meet with corporate. for a hearing. I liked that also. . But you don't find that at all work places. and it not fair. I concur.

And also the fact that it's the hard workers that get called in on their off days instead making the bad workers come in and force them to do their work better.

That is surely terrible. It's a shame, but for a long time, now spreading the books and charts to get the ideal job done has taken second place to those that spread their legs for the boss or unzip his fly.
