CNAs I need your help?

Author: admin

okay Im 17 yrs old and I just got my CNA License, I’m suspose to be interviewd for a Home Health Care Bureau, is it true that it's better? I've heard lots of CNAs all say Im better off doing home care than doing care in a nursing facility please tell me about ur experiences in home care

Answer:
I worked private duty home health care as a CNA and I would suggest that over general home health care. With private duty you’ll have the same patients everyday, and you get to know the people you take care of. Depending on how huge the town is where you’ll be working, chances are you won't have the same people on a daily basis. I also have worked in a nursing home and assisted living facilities. I would state the ideal job experience of a CNA I ever had was at an assisted living facility for people in the end stages of Alzheimer's. It was an excellent facility with excellent people running it, which made the experience that much better. I don’t like nursing homes, they remind me of puppy mills, the way all the residents just sit around all day. That's my personal opinion and I don't mean to hurt anyones feelings because there most likely are great nursing homes (skilled nursing facilities) out there, but I've worked at two and they weren't very nice. I could also suggest to you, maybe not as a first job, but there is home health care for hospice patients, and it takes a certain type of person to care for people on hospice. When on private duty I took care of people on hospice and it was sad when they passed away, but I felt good when the family thanked me for the great care I provided. There are several different places you can work, you just have to figure out what you like most about your job, whether you like the relationships with your patients, or if you like something different each day. I loved the strong relationships, and found it very rewarding from day to day. You just have to find your nitch and good luck! And can I recommend continuing education in the nursing field?
