isn' a medical assistant the same things as a CNA? if not
when whats the diff
Answer:
No, CNA's only need a short amount of training followed by a skills testing (depending the state you live in) before actively working, where as a medical assistant needs a years worth of credits from a technical school and a short clinical experience before graduating. You can become a certified medical assistant (CMA) through the AAMA. CNA's generally work in nursing homes and assisted living facilities where as MA's generally work in doctors offices and clinics (they usually are the ones that take you back and take your vitals, get your chief complaint and a short history).
Answer:
No. CNAs are trained in a very brief (weeks ) course to generally give care to patients in hospitals & nursing homes: feeding, bathing, turning, walking, cleaning up etc.
MAs go through a much more lengthy course and generally work in doc's offices or clinics. They really don’t do classic nursing care. They assist the doc with procedures, draw blood, give meds, do vision checks, do lab work, irrigate ears, do wound dressings, splints, set up sterile trays etc, area the doc in family practice or other would need things done to patients in the office. They also do front office duties: appointments, filing, billing etc.
MAs generally make more than CNAs but may have a harder time finding a job.
Answer:
The two jobs are actually different in that the cna tends to help with activities of daily living (ADL) such as (helping the patient) dress, bathe, feed themselves and transfers (such as from the bed to the commode) and cna's don't usually draw blood (phlebotomy) unless received proper training (and with a different title such as 'multiskilled technician'). **There are actually not supposed to be too many jobs for the medical assistant (or medical biller or coder) despite what private $$ schools state.
If wanting to get training in either field, please look into the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) and also forgo the on the internet, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, university of phoenix capella and others as they're out to make a profit: http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us
