Was this a bad idea?

Author: admin

I went and applied at a department store this day, whan i handed in my application and resume i asked to talk with someone in management,

when she came i shook her hand introduced myself, and i told her that i had a lot of customer service experience and that i would be happy to discuss any openings at your convience,

she looks at my application and states “great” i will give to the hiring MGr. and she’ll probably call you in the next couple of days, I stated “thank you very much”

anywase, somebody i know says “you were too much of a know it all” WHAT????? How's that???? i think i handled it very well..

what do you think???

Answer:
HELLO, when you're looking for a job you're *supposed* to emphasize your experience… This doesn't make you know-it-all.

Yup, seems like you handled it well.

Answer:
I don't think you mishandled the situation by asking to speak with the manager. However, given she’s just a middle person, not the person that’ll be doing the hiring, I don't think it helped a great deal either.

But, in this dog eat dog world, one has to press each and each advantage to get ahead.

Good Luck!

Answer:
Next time ask for the hiring manager. Its best to be forward and get to the right person. Your application probably went into the black hole and normally never filters out. You did the right thing by asking for management just take it one step farther.

Answer:
you did the right thing. she will now remember you much more so than someone who just handed their application to the first person in a uniform they saw.

nicely done, and good luck

Answer:
You did the right thing. Put yourself forward at each opportunity.

Answer:
You were right on in your approach.

Answer:
YOU DID JUST FINE

Answer:
That seems like a good ploy to me ,but I was not there.
