I applied for a job within my organisation to transfer to the city where my bf lives. So the interviews are in the city tomorrow. This works out, because I could stay and spend the weekend with my bf. However, the human resources assistant is off today.

I could approach the director and find out if she'd like to book me for tomorrow, or I could pack my things just in case, or I could see what happens tomorrow and risk losing the opportunity.

There will most likely be more interviews, and it might be possible to book a phone interview, but it might hinder my chances.

What should I do? Speak to the director directly, pack my things just in case for the weekend and take them to work tomorrow, or just play it by ear?

The other issue is that if I leave for the interviews tomorrow I would have to notify my boss who doesn't know that I've applied for the job… so that's a delicate issue as well…

Answer:
I suggest you pack your bag and go to visit your boyfriend. Call in sick tomorrow. If you have already applied for the job and they have your resume, call the director with a friendly follow up call. Mention that you will be in the city on personal business, and you would love to halt by and state hello. This is a clear opening for at least an informal interview.

Good luck!
