As a convicted felon ( Marijuana over an ounce )
It is hard to get gainful employment!!!
I have a job, but why are we so reluctant to hire someone that has had this happen to them almost 7 year ago?

Answer:
Fear that the person might be prone to further errors in judgment, which could affect a corporations reputation. But you would like to think that after a sufficient period of time has passed (like in your case, 7 yrs) employers could look past their reservations and give people an opportunity.
Answer:
Sometimes its just the general practice of a company to have an employee with a clean background, and if that is the case, an exception usually cannot be made.
Answer:
If you have been loud about being behind the "Wall" and telling everyone about it, then that would scare people. Not everyone feels that way, but it sure seems like it. Unfortunately, these days people tend to judge everyone and not just those who served time. Plus the fact that there are those who believe everything that they see on T.V. (fools) Good luck, there are those who are good people who don't care about anyone's past. They are few and far between.
Answer:
its simple… no job is that special that a convicted felon offers something not available in a non-felon… Put yourself in the position of the person hiring, if you are supposed to pick between two equally capable people the only difference being one is known to ignore the rules and one isn't which do you hire? You made a mistake and you'll pay for it for the rest of your life… you may have learned from it… you may never break the law again… but you did once and most people will take the person that played by the rules over the one that didn't regardless of how you may say you have changed.
