or like most internet scams, just take your money and do nothing for you?

Answer:
First off, allow me to discredit Bill C's answer.

Alright, seriously Bill, WTF are you speaking about? You have the right to dispute ANYTHING on your credit report, even if you know it is true. This is not fraud, and you can’t be held liable for it. Many people have said this and I've challenged them to provide proof and to date NO ONE has. Trust me, this is just a lie collection agencies tell you to cease you from disputing debts that they cannot prove belong to you.

Seriously Bill, if you’re actually an attorney you should know much better than that.

Now to answer your question.

These companies generally hit the creditors/collection agencies with the “1-2 punch” of disputes and demand to validate letters, which is something you can do yourself and the only cost would be time and postage. The link below gives information on debt validation and what it does.

Answer:
Yes, total scams. There’s no legal way that you can remove an unpaid judgment, bankruptcy, etc. from your credit report. Most, if not all of them, work by:

(1) Telling you that you can erase all the “bad” things on your credit report by switching your identity by getting a new “personal id number”, by applying for a EIN (federal tax id number) and using that in place of your social security number. This is considered fraud and is illegal. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/cred…

(2) They tell you to dispute each thing on your credit report, that “hounding” the credit bureaus will make them cave in and remove the negative items on your credit report. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you can only dispute items that you know or believe to be incorrect. If you dispute items that you know are correct, you can be held civilly liable. http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/031224fcr…

If there are items on your credit report that you legitimately believe are incorrect, you can dispute them yourself. You don't need to hire any one to do it for you.

Answer:
Who ya gonna call if it is phony?

That's a lot of personal info to be giving to strangers on a promise.

All counties have a FREE debt consolidation/education clinic. It should be listed under county administration in the phone book.

They help with making a budget, calling creditors, etc.

Safer than what you propose .

Answer:
Doing paid surveys and those sites arn't really scams..you’ll get money but very very tiny..

To make money online you have to get into affiliate marketing. Its not something you will be rich overnight. If you work hard though it can be a great career. I've wrote some reviews on a couple of work at home oppurtunitys. Before you try anything always read reviews first.
