Lets state I’ve a life insurance policy on someone and he commits a heinous crime, waives all appeals and simply wants a swift death and I’ve an insurance policy on him, would I still be granted to collect upon his execution?

It would depend on what your policy says. However most policies will have a clause that’ll deny payout in the event of suicide, death while committing a felonious act, or death due to committing a felonious act.
The last one would more than likely cover someone being executed since the death would be due to committing a felonious act.

Most insurers will not issue life insurance on someone who is in prison or who was recently in prison. This is because the danger of death is high.
If this policy was purchased long before going to prison there is no doubt in my mind that the benefit will pay out.
The only exclusions in most life insurance policy are: 1. Suicide in the first two years (after issue of policy) and 2. misrepresentation in the first two years (after issue of policy). I believe that to be true for nearly all life policies in USA and Canada.
