a automobile scratch my automobile and we decided just to exchange numbers the doesn't pick up what do i do i only have his tag numbers.

Answer:
There are a couple of things that you can do. With the tag number you should be able to contact the police and file a hit & run report since they have given you incorrect information. The police will normally follow up on hit & runs (albeit they are usually backlogged several weeks) to make sure that this person cooperates with you in giving all of his or her correct information.

In most says for a small fee you can also request an insurance verification through the DMV which will normally provide the name of their insurance company and policy number but very little else due to privacy laws. Once you’ve this I would also do a reverse look up online with Super pages at this website http://www.whitepages.com/10866/reverse-… using the phone number. If the number is a land line and is legitimate, the reverse lookup will provide you the address and the name of who the phone number is registered to. With this information you can contact the insurance company that DMV provided you and hopefully they still have insurance on the car and will investigate and honor the claim. If they don't you should still have enough information to either file a claim in small claims court or file a claim with your insurance company if it turns out the other person is uninsured.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!
