Does anyone have any advice for someone who is going to school for management? We have to do an assignment where we ask other people for advice.

The advice can be what you can do to be a good supervisor/manager and what not to do to be an effective supervisor. anything will help.

Thanks =]

Answer:
Good manager: Hires good people,. Trusts those people to do their job without hovering. Will listen to their people when they have a job related concern, and take action.

Bad manager: Takes credit for themselves, when a subordiante or team really did all the work. Will look the other way at poor performance, rather than step up to their responsiblities and fire someone. Is a "yes" man to their managers.

Answer:
Yeah, don't expect to be hired in a management position right out of school. Management takes experience, which is something that you cannot get in school. I always found that major to be funny like that! lol

Answer:
There are two types of people in the world. People people and numbers people. You can teach a people person numbers but you can't teach a numbers person people. If you are not a people person, you can never be a good manager because you just can't relate to people on their level. If you don't genuinely like people, be an accountant for all our sakes.
