At the moment, I'm trying to bid on an item that would complete my literary collection for a particular author. I'm on edge, hoping that no one will outbid me, because I currently have the highest bid.

I've heard about people waiting until the last possible minute, then setting their max bid extremely high and winning. Does that actually happen, or is there a set amount of time that bids are accepted? I'm nervous! =]

Answer:
Most of the bidding on an item happens in the last 5 minutes of the auction. I always “watch” an item and hopefully I'm able to be at the personal during the final minutes of the auction to bid.

I wouldn't wait until the last minute and then set a max bid higher than I was willing to pay for an item. What if more than one person used the tactic you recommend. Item is worth state $20. 3 people put in maximum bids in the last minute of state $50. Somebody is going to pay $50 for something worth $20.

Answer:
It happens all the time.

Just bet your top amount you would paid for the item. Let's say $50. At the end of the Auction someone will put $12 so your bid goes automatically to $13, if that person keeps bidding you’ll be winning, until they bid over $51. Just bid the most you are willing to pay. I like waiting at the end, is fun, but you are more eager to win than what’s actually worth.

Answer:
yeah…toatally happens…i have ebay on my phone…i will get a text saying i've been outbid, by the time i get to the ebay site…which is prob not even 2 minutes…it's already ended and i completely lost…so yeah, they do that crap all the time. Just put in the MAX amount you want to pay,or do like everyone else…and don't even bid until it's just about to be over with

Answer:
I'm afraid so. I’ve lost multiple items as my computer connection at the time was too slow to keep up with the last minute bidding. To make sure you get it, you will have to be ready to bid more up to the last second. Of course it depends on how badly and how many people want the item. Good luck!
