and ask to speak to the manager, what should I state besides, ” I am inquiring the status of my application.”
Please no rude comments? Thanks!
Answer:
I wouldn't state anything more than that really. You don't want to come across all pushy.
Managers set aside their own time to go through application forms so just because you've waited a while doesn't mean you won't hear anything. They might have had loads of applications and don't want to get bombarded with calls hassling them.
Just inform him/her of the date you handed your application in so they'll know if they’d a chance to look over it.
The fact that you’re enquiring about the status of your application shows you’re keen in itself.
Answer:
To be honest, I've worked retail, and if they don't respond to your application within the week, they probably won't. It's superior to apply to a million different retail stores and hope one of them responds.
Answer:
You should explain that you applies for xyz position, and was wondering when they would like to schedule an interview with you so you may discuss further how you’ll fit the position and what qualities you have that make you the right choice for the position.
