I've just made my last buy on ebay. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've purchased something on that site it turns up and its either faulty, dodgy, not as described, or not new when it was advertised as being new.

And then you’ve to go through all the hassle of posting it back, waiting for a refund, - thats if they're decent enough to give you your money back- Its such a misnomer! A complete pain in the a*s*. Why does anyone bother?!

And more to the point, has anyone ever had a successful buy from that site? Because each one of my six purchases has been a complete waste of my time and money because everything I've ever bought off there has either been rubbish, broken or dodgy. What a bunch of sheisters!!

Answer:
ebay got spoilt years ago, it was fun when it was people getting rid of second hand stuff but now its a mess. Too many african scams, too many people trying to make a living, to much new stuff that's no cheaper than the shops.

Answer:
Oh dear it sounds like you have a real run of bad luck. I’ve only used Ebay once, and it was a positive experience. I know people who have had good, and bad experiences. Unfortunately you’ve had very bad luck to encounter dishonest sellers. All you can do is try to get your money back, and give them bad feedback. That is the down side of sites like Ebay. However all I have the ability to say is that I know lots of people who use it regularly, and have had good experiences of it.

Answer:
I purchase and sell on Ebay and think it's great
all my purchases have been bargains and in good working order and as described and i have never had any complaints about the items i have sold.My feedback is 100% good,i don't buy from anyone with less than 98%,that's what it is there for.
Your just inexperienced, there's shyster's on each site (including this one)

Answer:
Look for 100% feedback rating. I’ve had a few problems, but not from sellers in the UK. I try not to purchase from Hong Kong because I have had a lot of faulty stuff from there.
Not everyone is bad. I am a seller on eBay and have 100% feedback.

Answer:
Sorry to hear your tale of woe. I have bought two items, one private the other one from a shop. Both were absolutely fine and I couldn’t say anything negative about them if I tried. So obviously you must have been very unlucky.

Answer:
I have had MANY successful purchases but there are a lot of dodgy people on there. The reason for that’s the same as trolls being on here. They are cowards and can hide behind a computer screen.

Answer:
Sounds like you have been unlucky.
Never had a problem with anything I bought on ebay.
Try sticking to dealers rather than private sellers and always go for brand new, not 'As New'.
Good luck

Answer:
are you buying the items you want to cheaply? if so, this may be part of the reason…. there are plenty of law abiding, genuine people on ebay, and a handful of not-so-genuine….those of which spoil it for the rest of us………

thing is, now, ebay has stopped sellers from giving negative feedback to buyers, so, it is either a positive or nothing, so if you leave nothing, it just looks like they havent had many transactions…. how do the other sellers now know that the buyer they are dealing with is a piece of cr*p without seeing any negative history about them….

Answer:
the ideal way to deal with ebay is if you’re buying a new item then buy it from a retailer instead, you'll typically get it for less than ebay.

I've sold lots of items on Ebay and like to give a good service and only sell things that work but then i only sell infrequently.

If its a new item then buy something from someone with lots of positive feedback, it's not a guarantee but it helps.

I agree though, a lot of new things i've bought have been crap, always electrical goods and they've always broken so thats why i just purchase from a reputable company on the web rather than Ebay.

Answer:
Well i have been selling things on ebay for 4 years now and have a feedback of well over 1000 - all positives, have never had a negative and have never had anyone ask to return an item. At least a third of my feed backs comment that the item was superior than expected. ebay has a fair few dodgy sellers obviously but i think you will find that most are just ordinary people as honest as you are.

The thing you MUST remember about ebay is that you buy exactly what the description says, do not make any assumptions what so ever. I have the feedback i do because when i sell i try to think what would i want to know if i was buying this item. I describe my items accurately without any superlatives and in the very rare case an item might have a fault, i point it out (i once sold a laptop that had no sound for reasons i was not aware of. the guy who bought it told me he was deaf so it didn’t worry him, he was very pleased with his silent lappy).

I’ve purchased a quite a number of items and only once was it not as described.

Answer:
I personally have had no problems buying items of Ebay but i concur that there can be dishonest people on there but then again nobody is perfect and it seems whether you go whether it be on or off Ebay there’s always someone out there trying to con you. My advice would be to check out feedback etc before commiting to any buy and if you’re not entirely happy walk away and try somewhere else. If you’ve any problems regarding Ebay go over to the Question and Answer centre who have very experienced fellow Ebayers who can point you in the right direction should you need any advice.
