I used to keep a 6 month emergency fund in savings, but have increased that to a year and am keeping a strong cash position. Instead of investing in the stock market, I'm saving even more than I ever have. I only eat out when I have a bogo (buy one get one free) coupon. I stopped drinking my gourmet coffee and now purchase the store brand (that hurt). And, purchase store brands for most products as well. I grow my own veggies, citrus, herbs and avocados because produce has gotten so costly. I purchase my meats in bulk and only when they’re on sale. I totally stopped doing home improvement projects and now focus on repairs and maintenance.

Last year i lost my job in February and found a new one in November (making less money) during my unemployment I had to reduce my bills and spending, and had to canceled a few things. Now I'm trying to pay off my credit cards, and I'm still watching what I spend and try to save money any way I can.
