Legally, yes. A person under the age of 18 has no rights except through his parents or gaurdians. They’re supposed to safeguard him until he reaches his majority. That can mean controlling every aspect of his life.

On the other hand, I read of a 16-year old that started a software company and earned 3.5 million dollars. His parents stole about a million of that until he took them to court and sued for legal emancipation (Independent adult status). I wouldn't suggest it unless you've got 50 grand to pay the lawyer.

Answer:
This is a matter of Control.

The manufacturers of Wii are trying to control you.

They used psychological control techniques to get you to squander your hard earned money on the Wii, now they have your money.

The games are designed to make you squander your time and money on more of their products.

Your parents love you and understand that if you are controlled by the Wii, you will not make much more money or have much success in life.

Answer:
basically, the money is going to you. especially if it's a check, it's to you. so it's not like you're parents can get a hold of it.

however, if you're living under their roof, then i would suggest that it's good to share. don't be stingy with your folks if they put a roof over your head and purchase all the food and stuff like that.

if they let you keep the entire amount, then that's great.

but you're parents are still you're parents, even if they did take it, it's not like they're stealing from you and letting you live miserable.

Answer:
I would think that your parents should be glad that you can now support yourself but spending it on a wii isn't the smartest thing to do. As long as you have some sort of income, you parents would apprieciate it if you could help out around the house: pay groceries, bills, misc. stuff.

Answer:
they cant TAKE the money, if your name is on the check thats yours to cash. now if they state they want the money or your grounded or something then you might have to give it to them, but thats WRONG thats your money and you deserve it. you earned it!

Answer:
Who is paying the bills where you live??? Buying the groceries, your clothes, paying the rent, paying the utilities… ??? Even if they take every dime you make, it won't just be “for themselves”… If you're working, you should be paying into the family pot.

Answer:
You’re a minor, so technically you own nothing.

Answer:
No, but the cops can. Don't do that again.

Answer:
No, if the check is written out for you, it's yours.
