Three weeks ago my mother and I went to Wells Fargo to set me up a 'Teen checking/savings account.' My card arrived about three day's ago and I’ve a questions. If I try to use the card it a store, lets say Ideal Buy, do I need to have some type of identification? Will a student body card work?
Answer:
I’m going to assume that the card which you received has a “Visa” logo on it. When you are at the store and you use the card, you will most likely have two option as to how they have the ability to process your card… either debit or credit. It is VERY common for stores to check an ID if you choose the credit option even though they don't actually have to…it may just be store policy. If you choose debit…which means you’ll enter your PIN, then you should never be asked for identification. While it isn’t a legally accepted form of identification, given your age and purpose of use, your student ID should be just fine.
Answer:
That depends on store policy. Some will ask for an ID, some will not. What type of ID they accept is also store policy. Also it might vary from store to store even in a chain. Store Managers have a say.
Answer:
I have been using credit cards for 16 years and I am almost never asked for identification (except for automobile rentals, airplane flights, international travel, etc.)
Answer:
Should if it has a photo on it
