From the internet? Phone book ad? Postcard/leaflet passed out in the street?

Answer:
I would first try your local county bar association. They have an attorney referral service. Another place to try is the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys http://nacba.com

Most bankruptcy attorneys offer a free initial consultation. Make sure that the bankruptcy attorney devotes a significant portion of their practice to consumer bankruptcy - there are attorneys out there who do various other things, like PI, divorce, etc and don't devote adequate time to bankruptcy work.

Answer:
Bill C is completely correct…Look up your local bar association, you can google, your say, then bar associaton and it should link you the bar association in your area. Follow that advise and you should be able to find a good attorney…The listings will also tell you if they’re active, and how long they have been an attorney, what types of law they practice as well. Good Luck!!
