I find it really hard to not spend money, but I need to. I live at home and until I get a job don't pay board or anything like that. I’ve to pay for my own petrol and World Vision.
What are some ways that I have the ability to stop my spending?
Answer:
Carry only minimum amounts of cash with you when you go out, leave your credit cards at home and any bank cards you’ve. Basically, you're not taking anything with you with which to buy anything. You can lock your credit cards away at home so in order to buy something online you’ve to go through a lot of trouble to get your credit card number (during which time you should be telling yourself you don't need that thing you are trying to buy). You can keep a spending diary–where you HAVE to write down every penny you spend on anything each day (and night) so you can see exactly where you're wasting your money (plus it's such a pain to have to write everything down all the time maybe you'll think twice about spending so easily). If you use your credit card too much, someone once told me to stick your credit card in a bowl of water and freeze it–so you either have to sit there chipping the ice away to get to the card or you have to wait until the ice melts, which take a long time. Or make a deal with yourself: for each X amount you spend you HAVE to put that same amount into a savings account (which you can’t touch).
Answer:
it's simple DON”T.
it just takes self discipline.
maybe open a savings account so you can watch the money add up.
before you make a buy, look at it in the store. now go home & think about it for 2 days. chances are you won't want it by then.
Answer:
Stay at home and stop hopping in your automobile to go “do something”…
The less you go out the less likely you will be tempted to buy
things…
I hope you’re not living off credit cards because you do say that you don't have a job yet… the sooner you get a job the better…
Answer:
Gold and silver coins are real money. Paper money is not. Paper is backed by nothing.
Answer:
Create a budget
