What would be the monthly expenses if I want to save for an apartment and pay for all the basic expenses such as electricity, water..ect. Plus paying for vehicle insurance.
I was planing on moving alone by myself and wonder how much it would be each month on average
Answer:
It really depends on where you want to live, and what kind of lifestyle you have.Cost of living is determined by location. What kind of job will you have? That may also play a massive factor in where you'll be able to live and how much you can save/spend.
You might be able to find a studio or 1 bedroom apartment for $500-900 a month (if you want to live in a massive city, plan on $700-3,000.) Plus an initial security deposit, which is usually the last month's rent. Some buildings will even have water or heat included in the rent, or if you're really lucky, high-end buildings might include electricity instead (in which case you should invest in an electric heater or air conditioner!) Anyway, estimate about $200 a month for utilities, as you’re much superior off overestimating costs than underestimating. Phone/TV/internet service, groceries, and vehicle insurance vary, and be sure to keep an emergency fund. Other things to take into account are home-owner's insurance and furniture, but those things can be taken care of as you go. Overall, you could be very safe with $1000-2000 a month for a small apartment in a small city. Near NYC or LA, plan on twice that or more.
Hope I could help a bit. It takes a lot of research to figure these things out, but planning ahead is a must! Keep track of how much you're spending on phone, groceries, vehicle insurance, spending, etc. now, and it will be that much easier to figure out the numbers later. Good luck!
