I am so nervous about identity theft- I cant sleep.
TD Banknorth asked for my soc. sec. number on their online application and then once my info was submitted a funny promt came up from my web-browser questioning the safty of the website- I freaked out thinking the site had been hacked into and someone was stealing my info- so I called the company twice and both people told me that this is necessary and if I didnt feel confortable doing it online- I could go to the branch in-person.
I filed a complaint with their fraud department because I want to make sure this is all legit–and am suppose to get a call soon- I am just so scared that someone can see that info, and I have had it with banks needing my social sec. so soon in the process.
has anyone else had something like this happen with this company?
Answer:
STOP FREAKING OUT!! , sheesh its just your internet watching your back so chill out, your probably one of those girls who just sit there worrying about nothing all day long while eating cold popcorn from a giant plastic bag, today your worrying about online crap tomorrow your worrying about how long your toe hair is getting, but then again you should probably worry about that
Answer:
Its normal. Relax. The message you got was likely the one telling you the information you're about to send is going to be encrypted so that no one (except HR) would be able to see it.
Answer:
This has nothing to do with 'banks' needing your SSN. This was a job application, and they do need your SSN. As they told you, if you're so paranoid, go in and do it in person.
