Hi,
I’m trying to figure out if its cost effective for me to accept job in Canada Montreal that pays $70000 and leave my job here in UK on £30000.

To help me to do this I want to get an idea of what my net salary would be after all taxes but I'm not sure what sort of taxes I would be paying.

To give you an idea in the UK I pay the following taxes annually (approx):
- National insurance contributions - £3300
- Income tax - £6000
- Council tax (Sort of property tax I pay although I'm renting) - £1250
- Vehicle Tax - £130 annually

In a similar vain what sort of taxes would I pay in Montreal.

Many thanks.

Answer:
Here’s what I got from Canada Revenue's payroll deductions calculator based on your $70,000 salary:

Federal tax = $16,133.34

QPP = $2,118.60

EI = $583.74

Total deductions = $18,836.28

Net income = $51,163.72
